AI FOR NORMAL PEOPLE ⋆ CLASSES OPEN ⋆

Hi, I teach AI for normal people.

Previously:

→ First head of community, Shopify

→ Founding head of content, Derris

→ Founding content editor, Madewell

→ Editor, Allure, ELLE, Town & Country

Principles (updated 8/10/2026):

  • Prompting --> collaborating (prompting is dead)
  • Stop focusing on your skills. Start caring for your system.

  • (And on that note, skills aren’t agents. A scheduled task or workflow is not an agent. And on that note: influencers ≠ automatically trustworthy)

  • Compute is (basically) free. Giving context and direction, collaborating and pushing, is your job now.
  • Never, ever make the first draft. Put the pressure on your AI to study its context and come back to you with something. No. Blank. Page.
  • Context >>>>> (almost) everything.
  • You “learn AI” by building with it. Any good teaching is guided hands-on work, not talking at you.

  • We don’t say “ I want to learn the internet.” In a year, we won’t be saying “I want to learn AI.”

  • Agentic AI is not magic. It's designed to iterate, not to be a perfect ATM machine
  • And - with love - if "AI isn't working," it's our fault 😊

Life principles:

  • You win or you learn.
  • Weird works.
  • Kindness is free.
  • Confidence comes from doing.
  • If you want to be interesting and smart, read everything.
  • Listen to your customers. What you say isn’t always what is heard.
